Idle thoughts at 4am

If a man becomes a woman, does he defeat male pattern baldness or would the new woman begin losing her hair at the appropriate age?
If male pattern baldness is defeated, I find it interesting that vain men, who have certainly resorted to some bizarre strategems, have not made the leap to keep their precious hair follicles.
If not, are potential male-female transgenders warned of a theoretical upper age limit for making the switch? How unfortunate it would be to invest thousands of dollars, an equivalent amount of social and emotional upheaval and *still* have to wear a wig.
