i managed to get my application sent off for the apartment leasing position, or did i? the email got returned the first time. i think i have correctly guessed the first letter of the email addy. if this one gets sent back, i'll give up and fax the thing. dern crappy newspaper fonts.

[livejournal.com profile] h_postmortemus helped me with the cover letter. i hate those darn things. i am noticing a lot of differences between applying for jobs now and before i had the nationwide job. i'm a lot more confident now. i used to think that the resume paper and font and such mattered a lot. now that i actually have some real experience to present, i know that's all just nonsense. i also don't care as much about these positions and i think that helps. it doesn't seem so much a matter of life and death as i really am only looking for more cash to extend my time at home. of course, that's now. should [livejournal.com profile] h_postmortemus actually get laid off, my feelings will change dramatically. i remember being so intimidated by the other resumes out there with years of experience. now i'm on the other side of the coin, i am quite comfortable. the downside is the sheer weight of my experience in insurance does make it seem a bit weird to be applying for positions at a movie theater and apartment complex. i am hoping that won't hurt my chances to much. i think i can explain things easily in person, but i'm not sure if i'll get to that point. it really depends if the people in charge of hiring understand the need/desire to stay home with a small child.
