animated icons hurt my head*. slow moving ones (such as butterflies) are occasionally ok, but usually i find myself compulsively moving the screen and/or shrinking it to avoid having my eyes cross. today, my friends page was caught between two madly jumping animals - ow. of course, most of the people who have these type of icons do not read my journal, but i just thought i'd put the word out. it's like wearing too much perfume, which i am also sensitive too. or maybe i'm just too fussy, sosumi.

*literally hurt my head, not cause me psychological distress.

Assuming you're using Firefox, because if you're not then what the hell is wrong with you, go to "about:config", type "animation" in the filter bar, and change the value from "normal" to either "none" to disable them entirely, or "once" to allow them to animate once, but not loop.

There are probably ententions that let you do more fine grained management.

The Attack of the Animated Icons

they lift
virtual spears,
bouncing colorfully
all over my screen, a chronic

I hate most of them to, however, I did like the butterfly... Quick ones I hate to the ends of the earth and find posts with them distracting to the point of unreadable.

definitely agreed on the butterfly. it is slow and soothing. it probably epitomizing the effect that people with animated icons *hope* they are achieving.
