gnome with pipe looking at moon
You are a Gnome. You watch over the animals in the
habitat in which you live. A distant cousin of
the leprechaun, gnomes have lost their love of
treasure and revelry. Instead, they prefer to
live quiet lives with family and friends,
avoiding notice by other races, except to teach
them to be kinder to the animals. Gnomes love
to smoke their pipes and drink special herb
teas.

What mythical race are you?

i haven't posted much recently. at first i thought the novelty of journaling may be wearing off, but then i remembered the whole growth spurt thing. sylvia is, i think, finally done with the growth spurt. it seems to me that i always believe she's done a few days early and then am stuck trying to figure out what else is wrong. but now, now i think she's done. of course, she had shots today so sylvia will probably still not be happy. last time she was cranky for the next few days. cranky is not a really bad side effect, but i could use some rest. i need another perfect baby day ;)

we are now going to a new doctor and i am very very happy. her old doc had muttered something about talking about 'crying it out' at our next appointment. much as i like this guy, i am more than willing to skip that discussion. new doc and i are of one mind on the whole sleep thing:

  • crib is safest, but co-sleeping is not evil.
  • there's no reason to let a baby just cry.
  • and even if there were, she is waay to young to be worrying about such things.
so we're taking it easy. i have been trying to put sylvia in the crib at night. her post-newborn record is slightly over an hour. i'm going to try to put her in the crib more during the day when she is drowsy and see how that works.

doc recommends 100% breastfeeding moms wait until 6 mos to introduce solids and some breastfeeding to a year and after that she doesn't care. i like this lady.
