the joy of chiropracty
Feb. 12th, 2005 09:44 pmok, i've got tons and tons and tons of things i could be posting about, and if i intended to get caught up, i would be here until easter, but... i'm picking one at random and going for it. i've got this list at work of phone calls to make to get stuff done. until a few weeks ago, one of them was to call a chiropractor. my workplace has absolutely kick-butt medical coverage and it includes chiropractic work.
you see, i've 'stored my tension in my neck' for years now, and it used to be that some stretching and the occasional semi-pro neckrub from the likes of
songdancer could set me right. this slowly stopped working and it did it so gradually, that i couldn't really tell you when it happened. i had reached the point where i could function, but turning my head enough to merge into traffic involved a distinct amount of discomfort. i still did it, because it was better than getting in a car accident, but not a happy situation.
anyways, i picked out a chiropractor from the insurance company website. her office is so close to mine that i've been fitting my appointments into my lunch with plenty of time to spare. she said all the right things about what chiropracty can and can't do so i was feeling quite optimistic about my first adjustment.
can i just say now, that i had no idea what i was missing? what i thought of as a minor irritant has been shown in hindsight to be a major lack of range of motion. i cannot imagine how good i am going to feel once all the little vertebrae have been carefully realigned which should be in the next week or two. then she's going to show me some exercises to get me used to actually turning my neck instead of my whole head.
people, i had no idea the rest of you had it so good. and if you don't, get it fixed, cause it is lovely to be able to move.
