smoke break

not mine, the bosses and coworker d. i feel almost obliged to slack when they go out for their smokebreak. usually, i just read lj, but i decided it's about time i got a bit more constructive.

writing notes:

-still working on the sonnet, but i only have 2 lines to finish. yes, these are the crucial 2 lines which sum up and give purpose to everything which has gone before, but i am feeling hopeful nonetheless. i was originally going to work this up in both shakespearan and petrarchan forms, not knowing much of either, as an exercise. however, the shakespearan seems to model the effect i am going for much more precisely.

-i'm gathering up my poem scraps for another contest. this one is actually a pay-to-enter contest. i usually avoid these like the plague, but it's for a local independent paper (the independent(yes, a terribly clever name)) and i couldn't resist.

-poetry reading in 4 days. let me know if you're local and would like directions.
