Mes chers amis. I made a post in the nifty [livejournal.com profile] runners community, but I have not shared the news with you all.

I ran in my first (fun) run. What is the fun? The fun is walking. Seriously folks, I could hear the engine of the pace car and my only followers were a family with a stroller! But still, I made it and I have signed up for my next fun run on Thanksgiving morning. Next year - the 5K.

My training for the previous week was bad, but which I mean nonexistent.

Sunday = migraine = free pass
Monday = late day at school, no time between dinner & darkness
Wednesday = yoga
Thurs = rain (YEAH!)
Fri = rain (YEAH! - not because I didn't run, but because we were down to < 100 days of water)
Sat = day before race, taking it easy + lots of cleaning & studying
Sun = FUN RUN!

this upcoming week will be similarly bad

Mon = rest day & late day
Tues = Yoga (rescheduled + last session :( )
Wed = Halloween (must escort the princess & avoid ghouls on the racetrack)
Thurs = Open Mic Night (danger! hobby conflict - poetry wins)
Fri = RUN RUN RUN
Sat = RUN RUN
Sun = RUN RUN RUN

one good thing is that I won a free week at a fitness club that I have been eyeing. They are very close, but I suspect they are also very expensive. I need to find a refuge for running after we lose daylight next week and for when it starts to get really cold.

My friends, I do not care if it takes me 8 months to get to the end of the 8 week running program. I am going to keep at this. My next running session will be another big jump up to walk 5/run 3 minutes. I might not make it the first time, but I will eventually.

After I complete this program, I'll start on the next one to get me up to 5K.

p.s. Sylvia was furious that her race was so short (60 yds). We're going to see what we can do about that :).
