Can't really say. I know mine required an actual bachelor's, but you've got one, haven't you?
I think foremost for employers is some sort of experience. Even if not as an editor, they'd like to see some prior application of the skills..... The certification CERTAINLY couldn't help, because you'd obviously need to have some sort of skills to get the certification......
