i'm going to try to compress this:

- Sylvia gave me a 'First Mother's Day' card.
- spread compost and mulch over the newly planted tomatoes and eggplant
- wrote a ghazal. it's pretty unwieldy, but working on it was a pleasant mind puzzle.
- jeff held sylvia while i tried to complete the exit interview for work (last official day was mid-march
- i didn't succeed, but i did some major archeology on my desk and it should be possible for me to work on the interview while holding sylvia.
- consolidated the gardening catalogs into one 3" binder and added the plant delights catalog that i got at the open house.
- was reminded of the anemones i had left soaking by [livejournal.com profile] h_postmortemus and went to plant them quickly.
- was taken to sitar india for mother's day :). sylvia was too fussy/tired to stay in her carseat so i held her while we were waiting for our food. she soon fell asleep and jeff offered to hold her while i ate, but it was fairly easy to eat while holding her. there was something very sweet about holding my sleeping baby girl while eating my mother's day dinner. she woke up after we were finished our main meal and i relinquished sylvia while we were waiting for our desserts. as we were doing the handover, the lady behind jeff admired sylvia and i noticed the waiters were also smiling at sylvia. it seems it was not that they hadn't noticed her but were being discreet so we could enjoy our meal. at this point sylvia was beaming happily at everyone around her and everyone was beaming back at her and us. when we left there was another set of couples leaving and the men opened the doors for me while the woman wished me a happy mother's day and said what a sweet baby i had. i couldn't help but agree and said she was the best present ever.
- after dinner we went to sit on the porch and watch the wind whipping the trees about while i fed sylvia. it seems she has no objection to spicy curries which is something i am quite happy about.
- then bath and more food and we are all quietly tapping away at our computers while sylvia naps in her soft bee pjs :)
