The rules:
1 - Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - You'll include this explanation.
5 - You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.
1. What is your earliest childhood memory?
My dad putting together my sister's crib before she came home from the hospital. I would have been 3 years old. That is my first datable memory. I'm sure I have other vague memories which are earlier.
2. Why don't you want to show your face?
There are a whole series of thoughts that went into that decision. But primarily, while I will allow people to get to know 'me' from my lj, I am uncomfortable with the idea of someone seeing me on the street and saying 'Hey, I know you". I think many people on lj struggle with the border between journal and real life and how much to reveal, how much is private, and how much is not yours to share. My idea is that if I show pictures of myself, then those who have seen me in person will be able to recognize me, but others either will not, or not immediately. It is not in any way shame of my face which is fairly ordinary. In a similar vein, unlike many others, I do not show an image of my baby because I don't feel comfortable posting her image in such a private place. My icon is a picture of me, not her. When she is older, (don't ask me how much older), she may have an lj account or equivalent and then can choose how much to show of herself.
3. You have "mages fire" as a unique interest. Where does it come from?
"Mage's fire, rum mixed I" *Thump*
Old joke, not me, had to be said. Mage's fire is a mixed beverage said to be of SCA origin. When properly prepared, it has elements of blue, red and green inside. I am sure it can be made to burst into flame, although the 'fire' refers to the warmth inside after consuming. All that being said, Mage's fire is composed of 1 part cinnamon schnapps (Damn Hot/Bols preferred), 1 part blue curacao, 2 parts vodka. There is a lot of controversy involved in the exact ratios, so don't get too hung up on them. It's best aged and as I've been nursing/pregnant for quite some time now, I've got a hell of a great batch sitting downstairs.
4. What's your first roleplaying experience?
This is really sad, but my first roleplaying experiences have all been during cons (including trinoc-con) attended during the past few years. during my youth, when i was seriously intrigued, i was told to shoo away, because i was a girl. then as i got older, i was told to scoot because i wasn't experienced. i've now gotten my feet wet enough to know that i really like this stuff, but it's been really hard trying to find a gaming group close enough and relaxed enough to fit into my crazy schedule.
5. What thing that you've written are you most proud of?
lately, i've been liking my newest writing the best, so i'm going to say it's still All Us Mammals. i am still getting upset with myself that i'm doing more reading, than writing and even a lot of that writing is more 'passive' such as lj, prompts etc. however, i am spending more time thinking of poems and starting to see casual experiences as seeds, so i think i am getting something. i have increased the frequency of tiny steps, even if i'm not cranking out a full scale masterpiece every other day. one of my huge blocks with writing is the 'good enough' trap where i am constantly stopping myself and asking if the finished product will be non-embarrassing and worth the wasted time.
and now off to get all snazzy for work, even though i'm supposed to be working on my own return, i have a feeling the office is going to be waaay to busy for that to happen.
