once again, the schedule is highly dependent on when sylvia takes a nap. this morning, sylvia's nap was rather short and i decided to seize the moment and run to kohl's to see if they were clearing out their winter stuff -bingo. i missed a lot of the nice sweaters, but i came back with quite a haul.
from least to most spiffy:

  • white short sleeved shirt with black stiched scroll design. vaguely 70's inspired, not really important because i intendt to use as a shell shirt and the design won't likely be seen.

  • blue long sleeved knit shirt. simple, utilitarian, nice shade of blue. perhaps a shade too casual to wear to work.

  • black knit cardigan, very light, will probably wear as part of an artificial twinset perhaps with the white shirt.

  • black long sleeved shirt, almost like a tshirt until you get to the cuffs which are velvet and lace brocade in a medieval inspired design.

  • blue suede fitted shirt, great for work. really beautiful shade, makes my eyes look blue.

  • black blazer, very lightweight, machine washable, just what i've been looking for now that i've got the heavy duty tailored one taken care of. this was actually a size smaller than what i usually wear and due to the price i decided to get it anyways and let it sit in my closet. i was pleasantly surprised to find that it fits very well.

ok, the price for all of the above - $5 apiece! who is the mighty gatherer?

also purchased, some light tan/wheat pants that go wonderfully with the blue shirt (a whopping $20, but i needed another pair of pants) and a six pack of socks for ms sylvia who seems to have sent hers into the ether.

total for trip w/tax: $64, still real money, but i got a heap o' stuff.

then i went straight from the store to the school to pick up laric. i thought i'd cut it a little too close, but apparently due to some recent renovations, the parking has been just awful, so the effect of arrriving 5 minutes later than usual was exaggerated. the weather has finally turned absolutely wonderful and laric took a bit of time getting to the car. as he gets more and more used to me picking him up, he's actually more likely to stray. when we got home, we hung out on catherine's front porch for a while until sylvia managed to bonk her head on the railings. she cried loud enough that i wanted to get into the light to see if there was any damage, but all was well.

the rest of the afternoon was interspersed with playing, a highly delayed lunch (mexican grilled cheese sandwich), and wondering what kind of day [livejournal.com profile] heathrow is having (ah, those first precious weeks of bootcamp, er babyhood). late afternoon brought another curry making actually prepared with the idea that it would be ready when [livejournal.com profile] h_postmortemus arrived home. i usually like to have more of a gap between arrival and dinnertime, but i was scheming to attend the RTSFS meeting.

wonder of wonders. i have finally made it to my first meeting (longer description later). i was glad to see those who were there and am sorry that i missed [livejournal.com profile] cislyn by *this* much, but things are tough when you're baby wrangling. random discovery, sylvia can put a real hurting on a vanilla frappachino (just milk, cream and sugar people - no coffee or caffeine) when i arrived home, sylvia had fallen asleep, but she woke up when i tried to transfer her to the crib so she got her bath after all. during the daddy rock n' read phase, i went into the bedroom to be play with my stash of clothes and finally actually put it away, and now i'm doing not much of anything, but i probably should be getting to bed.

goodnight lj fans. i'm going to try to start writing more as it seems i have definitely been letting the percentages fall too far to the reading side.
