actually, it's the smutty yellow side of spring, but let's not quibble. the problem is, that my eyes start to ache and my sinuses get clogged and i generally feel down, just when i'd love to be planting. according to the eye doc i saw last year, my new snazzy contacts actually make things worse as they let everything into my eye. she offered a prescription for nifty allergy meds, but after checking could not clear any of them for use while breastfeeding. i love my baby, but next year, i'm going to have the drugs.

however, all of that did not stop me from going down to the garden store and picking up an absolutely enormous amount of plants. i'm not sure how i'm ever going to get enough compost to amend all of my garden beds. supposedly, my neighbor is going to lend me his truck, but i haven't had a free weekend to run to the county compost center. no obligatory list, i'm too lazy, but i did get: buddleia, celebrity tomatoes and bugleweed, among many many others. i feel like i went a little overboard, but [livejournal.com profile] h_postmortemus said that he thought i got some good deals judging from what he saw when he rescued the plans from the car.

meanwhile, this whole posty began because the main effect of the pollen is to exacerbate my problems with eyestrain and make me really really want an LCD monitor. i *could* raid the savings account, but i don't feel quite ready to do that. in essence, i would like a fiendishly crisp and possibly large monitor for something under $200. thank you.
