blasdammit
Sep. 25th, 2004 12:04 ami am not going to be able to recap the weeks of missed updates, but i can at least give a little 'hey i'm alive' post, yes? that is aside from a bizarre weightwatchers quiz.
- i am alive. i have survived the big test that ate my brain. i very well may have failed. odds are with me failing and i'm ok with that. this test has a 30% pass rate. our instructor has a 50% pass rate, but i am a mere 1st yr tax preparer and should stay humble. part 1 (individuals) was harder than i thought. part 2 (partnerships and sole proprietors) was not only awful, but it was just a bad test. large parts of it will probably be challenged and the questions tossed. when that happens everybody gets credit. this may be my only hope. part 3 (corporations) is the part everyone fears. it was really tough, but the questions were better written. part 4 (ethics, preparer regs, estates & trusts) is usually ridiculously easy. it seems someone got angry about part 4 getting no respect because it actually put up a pretty good fight. we shall see. i do not expect to get anything close to an official score until december, although i'll probably be getting inklings in a month or so. if i did well enough to only retake some parts, i may try again. otherwise, i think i'll wait till i've got a few more years of taxes under my belt.
-sylvia continues to be adorable.
-now that i am not studying at lunchtime, i actually went out and took a walk. a month ago, i had noticed a greenway-ish entrance at the bottom of the parking lot. after a simple lunch of sandwich, crackers and internet, i set out on my walk. i had 40 minutes of walking on a gently paved path through the woods. the sky was that beautiful crisp blue that reminds me of why we moved to this state in the first place. i kept having the feeling that it couldn't be this easy. but really, i could take a walk like this *every day* if i wanted to. when it gets colder, i shall wear a coat. when it gets icy, i shall go the gym and walk on the treadmill. i am really tremendously lucky to have a job that causes so little daily stress. i would still like more money and a shorter commute, but this will do for now.
-the diet thing. ok, last week was great. this week with the killer test from out of space, i went off plan. i did try to make the best choice available, but didn't kill myself over having chick-fil-a waffle fries 2 days in a row. i would like to say they were very very good, but tonight i had applesauce for dessert instead of goodberry's.
ok, this is the point where i start getting cozy with the whole journaling thing and start to want to introduce topics that really deserve their own posts and will take quite a while to get down on screen. stay cool everyone.
