so, it's before 11, i'm out of class and have had a tasty beer. i think i might catch up on everything at once. we shall see, if you are all good boys and girls, i might even put in a cut tag *peers meaningfully at the screen.

ITEM THE FIRST
reply. consider this toast posty to be a general census. you don't have to say anything, i just want to know which accounts are still active. if you want to respond to anything else, make it a second reply. i know from my own nasty procrastinatin' that i won't reply until i've had time to say *everything* that i wanted to say, in the most coherent and elegant form possible.

ITEM THE FIRST.5
forgive me my run on sentences and sentence fragments. i do try.

ITEM THE SECOND
filters. the simple friend system isn't working for me. my world is mega-multi-faceted, and i feel i should have some respect that i don't shoot the secrets of one facet over to another facet that may just be getting a good read. so... um, here's some really really rough filter possibilities:
writing - mostly poetry. i'd like to have some place to post things without worrying about diluting copyright
nanowrimish activities - i am contemplating, but i'll have to change the rules to 20 poems or a complete book of poetry
kids: some don't care, some are sensitive to the offspring issue for various reasons, in any case, i'm not sharing stories of my wittle angel with everyone, so let me know if you want to be here.
cosmic angst: i'm fairly low on the angst meter, but it could happen
career obsessing: i have multiple careers at this point and i'm only looking to add. this is somewhat insane, but if you'd like to cast an ear to the journey, let me know
eggplant: no, i'm just kidding, but i do love eggplant
dieting: jeff and i are both back on the ww wagon. i've had a tendency to start sliding around wednesday, but hopes are still good. i'm within 1.5 lbs of the pre-pregnancy diet low so i'm feeling fairly positive
working out/weights: man, i love the weight machines, i can't profess to any particular skill and i always set the weights lower than the person before me, but i loove the tight slightly sore feeling the day after. BONUS ANALOGY: working out is to walking as whiskey is to beer.
memes: i'm not as memeish as some, but if you're not memeish at all, let me know and you'll be out out out
all things literary: that would be the book thing
tax obsessing: this filter not recommended to the sane.
BONUS FILTER: is there a filter you wish i had listed, let me know.

ITEM THE THIRD:
that EA test thing. so, i went into this posting decline because of the EA exam, and believe it or not, it is still ruling my world somewhat. the deadline for challenges is this friday though, so a great deal of control is passing out of my hands. there are 4 parts to the EA exam. go here and you can see the actual exam. about the mid-point on the first page there are links saying, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 & Part 4. that's the thing i spent TWO DAYS doing. you can play at home as the unofficial answers are up.
...waiting... nasty, huh? it does help considerably that you only need to get 60% to pass. now, consider that the pass rate is only 50% and last year was my first year doing taxes. yes, i am insane. here's where i stand right now: 'unofficially' i have passed Parts 1 & 3, aka Individuals and Corporations. Parts 2 and 4 i'm going to need to hope for a few challenges. i currently have around 52% for each and need 54% for retention (which means i only need to take the parts i didn't pass next year). i am fairly certain that i will at least retain the parts that i didn't pass. my current theory is that next year i will need to take only one part and i'm severely hoping that it is Part 4 which every year but this one has been fairly easy. i'm currently taking 'Representation' which is a course involving what you do once you have your EA certification. it's one night a week and so that's causing a bit of a time jam as well. however, there's no studying and virtually no homework so it's a fairly relaxing 3 hrs.

ITEM THE FOURTH:
sylvia - splendid as usual.

ITEM THE FIFTH:
squid

ITEM THE SIXTH:
my accessories today and how they and their contents describe my overfaceted life:
hippy purse: this is a purple canvas purse with a pretty flower with a mirror set into the center. it's shape is somewhat like a vertical messenger bag and i've been wanting one for ages, but just never got one for one reason or another. i absolutely love it. this represents the free-spirit portion of my life and the way i never will truly grow up. it also is just the perfect size to hold the poetry book of the month for the poetry discussion group that i've joined.

leather portfolio: i bought this for many reasons. the primary one was as a nifty attache thingy to take on job interviews. that mission has been accomplished. however, i bought the extra big one with three ring binder, so that i could also use it for my tax work. again two different reasons, the first is to take to classes as a practical aid and the second is to take to work and look snazzzy and impress the clients.

my gym bag: the target bag wasn't working so i fetched a surplus duffel out of the closet to take my workout togs to work with me.

so, hippy, tax professional, fitness fan... this doesn't even count the potential college student and possible career change i've been contemplating, or the gardening. or the writing (except indirectly in the whole hippy thing)

ITEM THE SEVENTH:
on the seventh item, she rested. i'm sure there's more, but at least i have finally posted something, yes?

I'm interested in all of it, of course. :)

Miscellanous response inspired by item the fifth:
...I have managed to restrain my impulses, and maintain only a minimal fish population since Hoover passed on. While I intend to repopulate the little goldfish pond in back next spring, it requires significant resuscitation in the meantime, and is (to the best of my knowledge) fishless. One male betta fish, with the surprisingly un-creative name of Fish-Fish, has been with me for over a year, is now relatively huge and spoiled, and has just been returned to a more suitable "apartment" now that we've had over three weekends in a row without hurricanes. (He had been in the fish equivalent of a mobile home, -- a gallon juice jug with handle, -- while travel was still at drop-of-the-hat potential. He apparently travels well under such conditions.)

...anyway, he'd been a bit mopey lately,...he'd make a bubble nest, see there were no lady fish around, and then be mopey for a few days, recover his spirits for a day or two, and then start the cycle over. I felt a little guilty, so when I was shopping at Wally world with Monica, I gave in to temptation and bought him a girlfriend. The problem: she's jailbait. Thus the question: Do you know how to tell when a female betta is old enough to mate? They've been dancing at each other in neighboring tanks for the past few days, but he hasn't made a new bubble nest after the first day (and that one was just a half-attempt),...I'm hoping he realizes she's still too young. After discussion with Monica, I realized that the female I had bought when I first bought him had probably exploded as a result of becoming eggbound when I separated them (At the time I didn't understand the S&M side of betta fish love). I want to make sure the new little lady is old enough before I put them in the same tank, but I don't want her to explode because I wait too long, either. That was rather a gruesome experience, the last time that happened.

...hmmm, given how I've just blathered on, maybe your readers might want a fish filter,... ;)
