it's official - tax season has started.
Jan. 7th, 2005 09:05 pmi went in to job B after job A in order to get in some practice problems. when i arrived, there were some dude from hr block mortgage and we chatted a bit about how referrals were a very good thing. and while we're chatting, an actual customer arrives with his w-2s. that's pretty impressive for jan 6th, the offices are open more for show than anything else at this point. in any case, i rolled up my sleeves and pretended i wasn't struggling to remember the screensaver password. i'm typing along, asking him if he's been to hr block before etc and he mentions that he was here last year and is pretty sure i did his return. i looked up again and was stunned i hadn't recognized him. he was my very first client *sniff* and he came back to me *double sniff*. no details, because of the whole confidentiality thingy, but i am stunned i didn't recognize him. he's got a few interesting quirks, but mostly he's a real friendly guy, a perfect 'first client'. we got on like a house on fire and i was reassured that i will still enjoy the tax thing even with a 40 hr job. the home life still needs some balancing, but i think we'll manage.
