s'tough being a vers libre poet i tell you.

rule one is write it down, no, not later NOW[1]. no, you're not going to remember in the morning, now monkey! yes, you will regret it in the morning because you stayed up till 2 am reading a very tasty book. yes, there's daylight savings time, but the toddler doesn't know that - and it's you're turn to get up with her. but you're still going to write it down right NOW. oh yes, did we mention it will probably suck anyways?

sigh, it should be good, it's got everything: a wedding, a funeral, love, family, and both levels! the top level and the bottom level and the magic glue connecting them - but it still might be crap.

and no, it ain't getting posted right now, or possibly ever (see above). in any case, now that i've gone to the effort of bringing up the magic update screen (no client since the big hard drive failure) i could write a really long postie that would talk about all the wonderful things that have been happening in my life that i've had no time to post about, but i won't because i really really should be getting to bed.

ergh.

[1]no i don't follow this rule all the time, and i don't get big spiky regret in the morning, because i don't remember there was every cause for it, just a vague painful remeberance of something beautiful that is gone beyond any point of recovery.

p.s. can someone please tell me why sleep is necessary because i'd really just rather stay up all night except for the horrible headaches.

Glad to hear wonderful things have been happening for you, even without specifics.

i always think of the best things in the middle of the night. or at least they seem that way at 2am. i think the reason I haven't put a notepad by my bed isn't because i'm lazy, but rather, i'm afraid to find out i'm really not that brilliant...

Have you considered a pocket voice recorder that can be left by the bed for middle of the night inspiration? That way you don't even have to open your eyes. ;)

i'm way too self-conscious to use one of those things, especially because i would probably wake jeff up and that would just be weird.

How about a notepad, pen, and book light? ;)

that's what i should do, although i usually slog my way to the computer which has the allure of the internet to keep me awake.

I thought the goal was to get it written down, not necessarily to wake up...

see that's a con for the computer approach. (i was agreeing with you)
