three of the 'purple, my butt' daylilies are blooming today. they are really pretty, despite not being purple. the rudbeckia 'irish eyes' are starting a second wave of blooming. the wildflowers i started from seed are continuing to grow very slowly. they're at maybe 3 inches high. the caladiums are just starting to unfurl. all of the bulbs i planted in my last spree have broken ground which is quite a relief. the amaryllis i got from my mom's house in tallahassee continues to grow although it will not bloom in this climate. hosta 'baby bunting' is blooming. although the flowers are not the primary delight in a hosta, these are pretty big flowers for such a small plant and are a lovely purplish white. the balloon flowers are starting to bud. the buds are not yet big enough to look like balloons, but it won't be much longer. i presume the 'early girl' tomatoes continue to grow. there's almost a half dozen out there, but sylvia and i can't check due to the hordes of mosquitoes.

I knew there were some odd botanical names, but that's right up there with Ostrogothia resplendens 'You must be joking' and Trollaebadia decipiens 'Hairy testicle'.

what can i say? they were supposed to be purple, but they're not. no way to tell what specific variety they are, but they are pretty. i'm not too surprised because i've never seen a purple daylily.
