today's waste of time

went over to a snooty snoot baby store that was having a moving sale today. i was thinking that at 60-75% off perhaps i could get something ridiculously decadent. however, even at 75% off a lot of this stuff was overpriced. i found myself concerned for the sanity of someone who would pay $75 for a baby outfit. i saw one cute outfit which lost all appeal when i discovered it was dry clean only. at best, this is something that will fit for only a few months. the furniture was nice, but $400 was the reduced price for a toy chest. i'm feeling the need for a nice cleansing trip to wal-mart.

in all other ways, the day has gone well. it turns out the mega-cluster of daylily buds was from one of my mom's daylilies! it's a three tiered bright orange flower with ruffles. it looks absolutely stunning next to the burgundy and gold (my mom would say garnet and gold) daylily and the blue balloonflowers. it's gotten hot enough that the impatiens i planted saturday are wilting. so now, even though it rained all last week, i am watering them. impatiens tend to wilt dramatically and spring back up, but these are new transplants, so i decided to be cautious.

i have discovered that a sylvia in a boppy with a toy can darn near entertain herself. which is good, because she hasn't gotten the trick of folding her own laundry yet ;)

that's the kind of thing we're looking for. it's amusing to me that while i was pregnant, people always wanted to see the nursery. now, at +5 months, we are just starting to turn this into sylvia's room.
