so, i remember that when Oasis first hit the scene, there was all kinds of trash talk about them being Beatles ripoff artists. now let us consider this carefully. wouldn't all bands ripoff the Beatles if they could? i mean, it's like saying that alchemists are ripping off gold.

...and maybe, you're going to be the one that saves me, 'cause after all, you're my wonderwall...

I still love that Oasis CD. Beatles ripoff or not. (And really, XTC cribbed pretty hard from the Beatles, too, as did many other bands. It's not like Oasis was the first.)

Related story: when W and I were on our honeymoon, "Wonderwall" had just come out. And we were in Munich, where it seemed like every meal other than breakfast was made up of sausage. After three days, I said, "NO MORE SAUSAGE, I can't take it, I love sausage but I just can't do it any more." So we found... the Wienerwald, which is the German equivalent of Denny's and specializes in chicken dishes.

So we went around singing "... you're my Wienerwald..." for the rest of the trip. :)
