What color should I dye my hair:

A) Purple
B) Orange (Redhead variant, fairly vivid)
C) Burgundy/Plum
D) Black
E) Blue

Please note that my natural hair color is fairly dark and I will not be bleaching first. Therefore, all of the choices except for B and possibly C will be muted. The problem with B is that it is a permanent dye and that means upkeep. I hate upkeep. I like when the dye color fades just as the new hair is growing in so that it looks all natural.

I would go with plum.

I dyed my hair black once, and I didn't think there was much difference. However, I got a lot of "did you do something to your hair?" type comments.

I am tempted to do the auburn thing myself, but my hair is so healthy (for a change) that I don't want to load it up with chemicals. Maybe once my split-end problem comes back I won't care so much. *grin*

Do a semi-permanent and your hair won't suffer. Also, I used to use Clairol Natural Instincts and my hair was suffering. I find the professional stuff to be much nicer to my hair and no damage happens. With Clairol, I needed more of their special conditioner or my hair would go wonky. I don't need anything with whatever my stylist uses. With the semi-permanent, if you are done with it, it just fades and no roots.

I've done the burgundy/plum temp color thing before (my hair color is right next to black) and it looked great. I vote plum!

er, as an attendee of NCSU, my color preferences have shifted somewhat. the appropriate choice would be red (not burgundy or orange) and white...which I'll get to eventually.

I vote purple...

Have never been blue myself...have had an orangy red hair and all the other colors in many different shades...:)

Purple, purple, purple...(it was my HS colors)

I go for A or C... which seems to be the consensus...

I think burgundy/plum would work well with your skin color (if it's still the same as I remember). I still wish I were brave enough to try cotton candy pink. Job would be lost though. :(

ironically, plum does really look good with my skin, but I keep thinking that I want something more vivid. What I *really* want is to go somewhere professional and get black with burgundy/red stripes. That costs moolah though, and a box of dye is less than $10.

C Burgundy/Plum

If you want to test drive colors, go to Sally's Beauty Supply or some equivalent. Get the color gel that is wash out the next day to test drive what you like.
