"As easy as it is to skimp on your routine, rush breakfast, and then try to dive right into work — that’s not usually the best way to go."
I never do that. Never. Coffee is mandatory, which means I need to get breakfast. It is optimal for there to be a paper and some quiet, but I can survive for a few days without a paper. And diving right into work? That doesn't happen either. No wonder I am so successful! [full article]
Now, item #2 says that I should do something disciplined every morning. Check! I wake up. That takes work. Of course, that might have something to do with #1 Sleep Deprivation which I am supposed to be avoiding. Oops.
#3 Breakfast
Yep, see above.
#4 Clarify EXACTLY what would make your day productive aka Goal triage
Check.
#5 Get into Work Mode
*whistles tunelessly*
Can we talk about breakfast again? I'm really good at that one ;).

Date: 2008-08-20 06:50 pm (UTC)When Rhianna is in school, I frequently do the above, get her up and ready for school, walk her across the street to school, sit right back down at my desk, and, before I know it, 3pm has rolled around and it's time to pick her up and I'll realized I haven't left my desk, except to get more coffee, haven't eaten...heck, sometimes I haven't even bathed.
So, I jump in the shower quick, run across the street and grab Rhianna from school, and eat a snack with her, go for a walk (need to move the body a bit), come home fix dinner, and go back into the office and work until I can't keep my eyes open, which is frequently around 12am or 1am, and at times as late as...well...staying up all night.
Bad...I know.
I need to eat healthier.
I mean, when I eat, I eat healthy foods. Being a diabetic, I don't have much of a choice, but, I don't eat regularly enough, nor do I have a regular sleep routine/schedule.
I just work endlessly...
Wow...a long comment, no?

Date: 2008-08-20 06:52 pm (UTC)We go for a walk almost every day, but, it's not enough.
I used to run, lift weights, wait tables, paint houses, play sports...
I was a lot healthier.
And ate more.
And slept.
Gosh..I miss those days.

Date: 2008-08-21 05:54 pm (UTC)I'm with you on the not getting enough exercise front. I work out 2-3 times a week, mostly in order to get out the house so that my husband can work out in the living room. You would *think* that I could exercise any time during the day, but it just doesn't happen. Then I get tired because I'm not working out and the cycle just repeats itself.
