Sadly, it is occurring on both sides. A woman got beat up for canvasing for Obama. She returned to her house in Chicago to a personal message from Obama on her answering machine. It was the least he could do. I seen several on the Obama side and it hasn't gotten much attention from the press. This is the first McCain one but I'm also not looking.
People are getting weirder and weirder. There are days I just want to forget about the whole election and pretend like it isn't happening but you can't walk away from it. It's everywhere. I think people can't deal with it, can't get away, and are angry. I know I'm terrified of some of the outcomes (Palin in the White House, the election dragging out because Florida/Ohio/etc. can't vote right, etc.). I also got a little pissed when I saw the "Obama is a Nigger" bumper sticker and wanted to cover the N-word with an Obama sticker. I could see that going badly quickly. Luckily, I didn't have one.
In a recent discussion with friends about this tragic incident of the McCain supporter being attacked, a comment was made that stories of McCain supporters doing these kind of things to eachother to make it look like Obama supporters were the perps, are the most disturbing of all.
Why can't people with that kind of creativity put their skills toward doing more positive things?
Just caught a Breaking News Flash on MSNBCnews reporting that Pittsburgh authorities have concluded, based on further investigations, that the 20 year old woman (an apparent McCain volunteer) who said she was attacked at her ATM by an Obama supporter "wanting to teach her a lesson for being a McCain supporter", made that story up. She admitted to intentionally creating this hoax. Yikes!
