harry potter

i just finished the last harry potter book. bexfiles has utterly corrupted me by transferring the ebooks to my computer. i know i'm a few years behind much of the universe, but here are my impressions. after i read the first book, i thought it was good, but did not understand why adults had taken to it so feverishly. after the second, i started to understand. it even makes sense to me that the books have gotten longer and longer. i agree with the way rowling has aged harry. i've been amused by how hermione and ron have started to both have and not have a relationship. i was especially taken by the way rowling had harry turn away from cho at the end of the order of the phoenix and thus reject the standard teen romance trap. however, by far the most powerful character for me in these books was dolores umbridge. she reminded me so much of what i have left behind in the corporate world. the constant insistence on conformity and everything being right and rules for the sake of rules. the true horror behind people who like things to always look nice. i am now looking forward to the next novel. thank you bex.

I still think my favourite character in all of the books to date has been Aberforth.
