friday's magic
Jun. 28th, 2003 12:37 amyah, the whole consonant thing is still making me pretty happy. the highlight of today was when
h_postmortemus and i went to crystal palace and then babies r us with sylvia. crystal palace was tasty as usual and we both felt absolutely stuffed when we left. we then went just down the road to babies r us to investigate convertible car seats. we promised we would not purchase one, but only do research today and we held strong - but we did buy more toys :). for the curious, we are strongly leaning towards the cosco alpha omega. it seems like a nice seat, the seven year warranty is stunning and it should last sylvia till she's just about out of booster seat range. during the time we were looking at all of the carseats, our faithful model was sleeping. as
h_postmortemus were taking a rest in the glider compound, our princess woke up quite upset. it had been quite a while till she had eaten so i settled in to nurse her in the glider. this was by far my most pleasantly decadent nursing experience.
h_postmortemus and i are sitting in our gliders, just watching the crowds go by, as sylvia munches contentedly. it got even better when
h_postmortemus went for fruity drinks. ok, it was orange juice, but it counts. sylvia has continued her exploration of consonants. she's gotten 'm' pretty well down, she's also been heard working on 'b' 'n' and a brief exploration of 'd' and yes, dada was listening and happy :).
toys acquired include: a set of plastic keys much lighter than the ones we have and thus more useful, a soft sorter cube, a mirror board book and a 'giggle pet lamb' which makes sylvia laugh out loud. it was really fun shopping for toys with her active cooperation. we'd shake one toy in front of her and then the other. every time, the lamb would win. SOLD!
we thought that sylvia would fall asleep on the way home, but instead she started crying louder and louder. this has happened before on nighttime drives and i'm wondering if she gets upset that she can't see outside. we tried singing all her favorite songs, but in the end i just had to drive and know when we got home i could hug her. and indeed, when we got home and hugged, snuggled and showed her the giggle lamb, all was well. we decided to get back to the routine and give her a bath. she's sleeping in her crib again. heaven knows for how long, but we continue to make progress
