[livejournal.com profile] h_postmortemus decrated sylvia's new car seat yesterday. after an evening of diligent manual studying, he went to install the new seat. out comes the old seat and in goes the new. or so we thought. [livejournal.com profile] h_postmortemus gave the seat a good tug as a final test and was able to twist it almost upside down. so now he's off to wal-mart in hopes they will have the legendary tightening device. meanwhile, there is no way that sylvia can be safely transported.

the carseat has it, the car doesn't. it would be nifty, but we're not buying a brand new car just to get it. what kills me is that this is a 2001 which is not an old car by any stretch of the imagination.

call the dealer
A lot of them put the latch in for free or a minimal charge

i didn't think that was something that could just be put in. in any case, jeff has returned with the mighty-tite(tm) and we are now cleared for travel. of course, our lovely model is now dozing, but the seat was preadjusted for her, so everything should go well.

yes, it is something that can be put in after the fact....
if your car doesn't have it, quite a few of the dealers will put it in after the fact.....
just something to think about for future.... in case you ever need to remove it and then reinstall.... which is, btw, a pain in the ass! :(

glad the mighty tite worked though!! :)

[livejournal.com profile] h_postmortemus is going to contact saturn and see how possible this is and how nominal the fee. this will be especially useful if it would enable us to trade the carseat between cars.

*nod* After speaking with Ben, I am afraid to say that not all car dealers can do this, though some can. They can, however, insert for you the thing to buckle at the top of the car. Do you have that?

if we are both thinking of the same thingy, she doesn't need that till she's forward facing and i think we have that.

you're right about that thing. Not until forward facing... but if you can get the other thing installed, go for it! makes life SO much easier..... but again, I'm not sure they will, because not all cars can.
